Feeling hot or cold? Here’s everything you need to know!
Balcony shade awning
Great for shade while dining outside, the balcony dining area near the BBQ features an electric awning that can open out & retract with the flick of a switch. The toggle switch is located to the left of the balcony door nearest the outdoor dining area.
Please enjoy, but under no circumstances should it be opened or left out in anything over the lightest winds or rain! You’ll see it move around and creak in the wind, and it will collect rain water if it is left out. In these circumstances, excessive strain will break it.
Air conditioning and fans
Dalmeny can get very hot and humid in summer months! The house includes reverse cycle air conditioning upstairs and air conditioner units downstairs (one in the lounge, and one in the bedroom*) to make your stay comfortable and cool.
The upstairs air conditioner unit remote control is mounted on the wall beneath it, and is set to Auto. We recommend adjusting the temperature in auto mode and its own thermostat will activate the airconditioning accordingly. Between 21-23 is quite comfortable!
For the most effectiveness on very hot days, always ensure the exterior doors and windows are shut. You can also shut internal doors, and bring the blinds down on the rooms receiving the most sun. The balcony side of the house is sunnier in the afternoons, and eastern side with smaller bedrooms sunniest in the mornings (bring blinds right down).
Dehumidifiers / Air conditioning downstairs
The downstairs lounge area has an dehumidifier / air conditioner unit which we like to leave on to make the space feel dry. The house is built on a hill and the dehumidifier effect helps make the room feel and smell fresher – so please leave it on. If it is too cold, it can be switched to dehumidify only. This also applies to the main bedroom downstairs when it opens.
The main bedroom and dining area have ceiling fans, plus there’s a portable fan located in the sitting area.
Heating
The main air conditioner unit upstairs is also used for heating, as well as 2 small bar heaters for the bedrooms. They are located in both main bedrooms with queen beds. Please do not move the heavy bar heater from downstairs to the upstairs area, carrying it up the stairs can be dangerous – please call Adrian if you need assistance with heating or heavier blankets.
*the extra bedroom is not available yet. It’ll have a queen bed and sofa bed, perfect for multiple families or bringing the parents down on your holiday. Stay tuned!
